For Spring 2022, we're introducing the Travel Tote: A handmade leather tote with all the features you need to stay organized! Be the first to preorder the perfect bag to take along whether you're running errands around town or traveling halfway around the world.

The travel tote is sized similarly to our bestselling classic leather totes, but with all the bells and whistles you've been asking for: an exterior and interior pocket, a brass snap closure, and brass d-rings to attach an optional crossbody strap. The top edge of the bag is rolled for a refined finish, and like every KMM & Co. tote, this one is made of gorgeous full-grain leather that will just get better with age.

It takes a lot of steps to make a leather tote by hand. Each tote gets its start on the cutting table, where we inspect every side of leather and choose the perfect piece – with lots of natural character – for your tote. There's nowhere to hide imperfections, so we cut carefully.

Next, we cut out the exterior pocket for your travel tote. We cut it from the same side of leather as the body of the bag so that it's a good match in terms of color and grain. We stitch the pocket onto the bag, and add rivets for reinforcement.

Then, we cut the tote's handles out of belting-weight leather, which will break in with use. We sew the side seams and the top edge of the bag on an industrial machine, backstitching carefully for extra reinforcement. (We always avoid a seam along the bottom of the tote for structural integrity.) Then, we add the interior pocket, interior D-ring, handles, and interior strap with copper rivets, hand-set to withstand decades of use. The final step is to set the D-rings that will enable you to attach an optional crossbody strap or shoulder strap to your bag.

Your KMM & Co. leather tote bag will become what you make it. If you want a bag that will look exactly the same after a year of heavy use, then this isn't the tote for you. But if you want a tote that looks and feels (and is!) heirloom-quality, and will acquire a patina unique to you, this may be the one.

Each travel tote is made by hand and made to order, and can take up to four weeks to ship. It's worth the wait, we promise! (See our shipping page for more details.) Everything is made in and ships from our studio in Atlanta. All orders over $50 ship free within the United States. We can ship to other locations, including APO and FPO addresses, too.

If you aren't happy with your order, you can return it for free within 30 days of receipt. We can't accept returns of items that are customized for you (but totes ordered with longer-than-standard handles but no other modifications are now eligible for return or exchange!) See our full return policy

We want your tote to be perfect for you, so we offer a variety of ways to customize it! We can emboss the leather tag with up to 27 characters: letters, numbers, or a few emojis. (Just type what you'd like in the monogram field in your cart!) You can also add an optional crossbody strap to have more ways to carry your new tote.

Other custom options for the travel tote include longer handles, which we'll custom-cut just for you, or custom-colored handles that you can purchase through the KMM & Co. Secret Menu. Please note that custom orders, including those modified via the Secret Menu, are final sale and ineligible for return or exchange.
