The BIG Tote is a classic leather tote bag handmade in the USA with heirloom-quality craftsmanship and the very best materials. Our new BIG Tote is a living embodiment of the popular phrase "Go BIG or go home." Well, we went "JOHN BIG!" This very regional phrase originates from Calhoun Elementary School circa 1993. It has nothing to do with the Blizzard of '93, but that legendary "Storm of the Century" could be described as "JOHN BIG." The phrase actually comes from one of our classmates (who wishes to remain unnamed) exclaiming "That's not big....that's JOHN BIG." once. The BIG tote, like every KMM & Co. bag, is handmade of full-grain leather. That's the highest quality leather made, and we stock more (and brighter!) colors than just about anyone else.
2. Custom-length handles
There's no single handle length that's right for everybody (or every tote). We make a range of drop lengths so you can get a perfect fit. Each tote handle is cut of belting-weight leather, and has its edges beveled, for decades of comfortable carrying.
3. It's BIG!
Let's face it, you don't really need any ole bag....you need a BIG tote to carry around all of your favorite KMM & Co. bags! Imagine a turducken, but it's this bag with gradually smaller totes inside until you get down to the tiny tote!
4. The BIGGEST interior pocket ever!
While it may not actually be the largest pocket ever (Guiness, slide into my DM's), it's certainly the biggest pocket we've ever made. The BIG Tote features an interior pocket that is the same size as one of our classic totes. BIG!
5. Traditional, solid copper rivets (but bigger!)
Once the handles go on with traditional copper rivets, they're not budging! We take the extra time to set our rivets smooth side out, so they won't snag even the most delicate cardigan. The BIG tote features XXL rivets to match it's XXL nature!

How the big tote gets made
Each bag is handmade in the USA (in our Atlanta studio)! The big tote begins on the cutting table, where we select the perfect sides to cut the bag – This bag takes almost three full sides of leather to make!
Next, we stitch the BIG bag. This is a two person job. Then, we cut the handles out of matching two-ply leather and stitch it with the same durable thread, which breaks in beautifully with use.
Then, we rivet the handles onto the bag, affixing the BIG interior pocket and interior strap inside the bag with those same custom copper rivets.

When encountering the BIG Tote qua artifact, one observes a functional hyperbolization of storage capacity. In examining the BIG Tote qua concept, however, one enters a hermeneutic labyrinth of competing interpretations:

Is it, perhaps most radically, just a very large bag?

How much does a KMM & Co. travel tote hold?
The travel tote is practically sized for a trip around the neighborhood or across the country. Carry everything that would fit in our classic tote – a laptop, a book, snacks, water – plus a bit more thanks to the handy exterior pocket.
What handle length will be most comfortable for me?
The drop length that's best for you depends on personal preference and body type. We recommend measuring the handles on a bag you already own (and emailing us!) if you're unsure. 7-inch handles are the most popular, followed by 10-inch handles.
How can I make my travel tote even more unique?
We're happy to work with you to customize your bag! If you want to combine different colors, leave off the snap closure, or something else, just send us a message.
Which color or leather should I choose?
We love every color in our collection, but after making thousands of totes, we're partial to Kodiak and Cypress leathers. For each color we introduce, we reject hundreds of other colors and tannages: KMM & Co. leathers are truly the best of the best.
What markings should I expect with full-grain leather?
Full-grain leather retains all of its original grain and character, including any imperfections. You might see range marks, grain variations, small spots or scratches, folds, or color variation. They're all a beautiful part of the leather's natural character.
