Christmas Shipping FAQs: Everything You Need to Know!

At this time of the year, there's one question on everybody's mind: Can I get it in time for Christmas?

We'll say this first: We're always available at hello@kmmco.com if you have questions about a specific item or order. But in the meantime, here's a quick rundown of the questions we get most often about shipping at the busiest time of the year. 

What is the deadline to place my order?

December 1 is the last day to place an order that will ship in time for Christmas. Our deadline isn't usually *quite* this early, but the USPS has been experiencing higher-than-normal volume and longer-than-usual delays nationwide. We're not taking any chances, so we're designating December 1 as the last day to place an order that will ship for Christmas. If you know that you need your gifts early, then our best advice is to place your order ASAP.

If you're set on a KMM & Co. gift this year – first of all, thank you so much for your support! – a gift card is a super popular choice this year. Gift cards are also the perfect solution when you know that your loved one wants a tote, but you aren't 100% sure which tote, or which options, will be the right fit. 

How long will it take for my tote to ship?

Totes, mini totes, and other bags take up to three weeks to ship, as everything is handmade and made to order. (They're worth the wait, we promise!) Each tote needs to be cut, sewn, and assembled by hand in our studio in Atlanta. But all orders that were placed on or before December 1 will be made and shipped in time to arrive before Christmas!

Unlike brands that sell on Amazon (and other popular sites), KMM & Co. doesn't have thousands of totes just sitting in a warehouse, ready to ship. That might mean that we're not the perfect fit for your gift-giving needs in this very strange year, but that's okay!

Can you expedite my order?

At this time of year, we have an extremely limited ability to speed up the process of making and shipping your order. We make and ship totes in the order that they were purchased, and it's not fair to our other customers if we let one person cut the line.

If you know that you need your order by a specific date, we recommend ordering early. Though we can't speed up the process of making your order, we can upgrade the shipping method.

Please email hello@kmmco.com if you're interested in upgrading from Priority Mail (our standard shipping method for bags) to Priority Mail Express. Additional shipping fees may apply, but we can let you know exactly what the USPS would charge to upgrade the shipping method, and you can make your decision from there.

Will my order ship in time for Christmas?

Here's the short answer: All orders placed on or before December 1 will ship in time to arrive before Christmas. Unfortunately we don't have any control over the post office here in Atlanta or USPS facilities around the country. But we are doing our part to make sure that all orders placed before our deadline are getting to the post office in time for them to arrive before the holiday.

We've all been there!

When will the KMM & Co. studio close?

The KMM & Co. studio will close for the season starting December 17. The USPS holiday shipping deadlines are December 18 for Priority Mail  and December 17 for First Class Mail, so all orders that were placed on or before December 1 will ship by those dates. After December 17, the production and shipping teams will be out of the studio until January 5. We'll start shipping orders again on January 5.

A final note: While we are doing everything in our power – i.e., working 7 days a week! – to get every order that was placed on time out the door in time for Christmas, USPS delays are a big unknown in this unprecedented year. It's important for us all to be realistic about that major variable.

We have moved up our ordering deadline and expanded our shipping team to keep pace with demand at the busiest time of the year. But we can only control what happens in our studio: Unfortunately, we can't make any guarantees about whether the USPS will live up to its promises or deliver shipments within the date ranges it tells us.
